Hello,

On our building plot, there is a large silver poplar right in the middle of the building area. The trunk circumference is 2.85 meters (9 feet 4 inches) at a height of 2.30 meters (7 feet 7 inches). As you can see in the picture, it is a fairly large tree.

A felling permit / planning permission is not an issue. It has been discussed in advance with the environmental office and will be granted with the building permit / planning permission.

The question now is: what is the most economical solution for cutting down and disposing of the tree? Ideally, a wood processing company would be interested in the tree, cut it down, and take it away. For me, at no cost. I’ve heard that poplar wood is very light and often used for furniture.

Or is that unrealistic, and the cheapest option is to have the tree cut down in the classic way and then disposed of? There is enough space on the property to fell the tree “lengthwise.” I want to avoid any costly procedures like having tree climbers cut off branch by branch.

Who is the ideal party to assign the job to: directly to the earthworks contractor, who would already know what to do?

Thanks and regards
