The property is a single-family house built around 1961.
A major renovation is planned here in the next few years.
Over the past years, I have developed and discarded many ideas.
Currently, I have found a good solution for the master bedroom and the dressing room on the upper floor.

Since my partner and I do not plan to have children, a nursery is not really necessary.
An office or guest room is planned on the ground floor.
This would likely leave me enough space to design a spacious bathroom including a bathtub (possibly freestanding), an open shower, and maybe even a sauna (big enough for two people to lie down).

The problem I’m facing right now is the suboptimal shape of the staircase.
Considering the required clearance in front of it, there is unfortunately only a very narrow area on the north side that is hardly usable for anything.
I have no ideas on how to solve this issue.
Maybe I will find a few new suggestions here that could help me move forward.

Please also excuse the simple sketch, but it should be sufficient for brainstorming ideas.
(Please do not pay too much attention to the windows.)
North is at the "bottom," and the nice view is to the south/west.

Unfortunately, the staircase is already in place and was only supposed to get a new covering, as installing a new staircase would require a lot of effort and money. (Although, of course, rotating it would be better).

Still, I have a bit of a negative feeling about it because a lot of space in the hallway is being wasted. For us, the hallway is purely a functional area, and we would never sit there in a chair (for example, to read).
