Hello, I would like to equip our underfloor heating system with actuators and wireless receivers so that the temperature in the rooms can be controlled using wireless room thermostats. First, a basic question: does the heating manifold also need to be equipped with flow meters for this purpose? Our existing one does not have these meters. A second question: when replacing the actuators, can the old ones simply be removed and the new ones screwed on, or will water leak during this process? Thanks and best regards, Ashley

Yes, first unscrew it and measure. If it is about 30mm (1.2 inches), then it is indeed 30x1.5 as stated.

The thermal balancing is the hydraulic balancing under real operating conditions.

The system and functionality of a modern water-based heating system with radiators or underfloor heating remain the same regardless of losses. Thermostats are at most used to compensate for solar gains but not to control the room temperature.

Is the new wireless system actually connected to the boiler, or does it only operate between the thermostats and the actuators? Regards

Both methods are possible, depending on what is desired and what is already in place.

I have already explained how I would approach the situation in your case.

Hydraulic balancing, actuators, control motors, thermostats in the rooms.

To avoid any further guesswork: You need the R478 or R478M actuator from Giacomini. The matching adapter ring is included.
