Hello

My wife and I can’t make a decision. Some people say to do this, others say to do that.
It’s about what would be better. It concerns the bedroom and the two children’s rooms. Should we install radiators there or underfloor heating like in the basement? We also have a fireplace downstairs.
We’re worried that with underfloor heating upstairs the rooms won’t warm up quickly enough!
What would you recommend?

Ok, thanks, that already helps me a lot.
Does anyone here have experience with having lived in a house for 2-3 winters with underfloor heating on the upper floor?

What would you advise me???
Underfloor heating systems come in a wide variety, with quite different capacities, constructions, and control behaviors.
You don’t have to worry about being cold with underfloor heating, as long as it is properly sized. However, it is less suitable for on/off operation due to its thermal inertia. Continuous operation is usually recommended (or required), with ideally a nightly setback of about 2°C (3.6°F).
An important factor in this context is the heat source. For heat pumps, low flow temperatures (FT) of ≤ 35°C (95°F) should be achieved for efficiency reasons. This makes the heating surfaces larger (and more expensive), and in rooms with high heating demands (e.g., bathrooms), additional heating surfaces such as wall heating may be necessary.
With conventional heat sources, flow temperatures of 40...< 50°C (104...<122°F) are generally no problem.

Best regards.

I think €uro has a point.
What type of heating system do you have?
Generally, I would say: underfloor heating everywhere, and you will be well prepared for the future.
With proper installation (spacing), a heat pump can also be used later on.
Personally, I wouldn’t want to do without underfloor heating throughout the whole house anymore.
Best regards...
