Hello,

We are installing underfloor heating in our KfW 55 house and are now considering whether to use tiles or laminate flooring.
Do you have any experience with this?
Which one feels warmer on the feet during summer, and which one in winter?
We don’t want our children to have cold bottoms, but I find carpet too unhygienic.

Thank you very much 🙂!

No, only the proper hydraulic balancing will help there..... then you won't even need your thermostats anymore

He is probably right, a well-balanced system doesn’t have that problem (of course, you can’t have unlimited temperature differences between different rooms) ... and always keeping all the doors closed... is that what you want?!

Exactly, a proper hydraulic balancing, then you can either disconnect the thermostats or turn them fully open.

It is described better on another page; you are right if I wanted to have the same temperature everywhere. But I don’t want that, and eventually, we will probably close the doors again 🙂 For now, I’ll just live with the fact that one heating zone is sometimes cold.

but that has nothing to do with it...
aside from the fact that in a modern house, temperature differences of more than 2-3K are hardly possible anyway.

Cheers to those who still want to live analog. Just a thermostat, and that’s it. And whether one tile is a bit cooler than the other—who cares…

nordlys, hydraulic balancing has existed since the last millennium as well 😉
