Hi,
we just had the spontaneous idea that we could skip the underfloor heating in the utility room to save some money. Since it’s mainly used for laundry and maybe storing some food on shelves, heating might not be necessary there. On the other hand, with temperatures around -20°C (-4°F), having a cold room might not be a good idea, especially since you want to dry clothes there as well. Do you have underfloor heating in your utility room? It’s probably pointless to exclude it from the calculation, especially since the room is only 5.62 sqm (60.5 sq ft). The room also has an active Lunos ventilation unit, so there should be sufficient air exchange. However, I’d still be interested in your opinion.
Best regards.

The heating control valve (HKV) is located in the wall between the utility room and the hallway. I’m hoping to save a few hundred euros, but it probably won’t be possible at all. We are paying a total of 7,000 euros for underfloor heating throughout the entire 150m² (1,615 sqft) house. Your point b) could be decisive as to why it won’t be feasible. Basically, it was just a thought, and I wanted to know how others handle this.

Sebastian7912 Aug 2016 12:12The savings for us would have been about 50-100 euros, but since a house should always be heated entirely, it wasn’t really worth considering. In our case, everything from the basement up to the upper floor is heated—only the utility room is partially heated because the heating center with all the supply lines is located there and is already warmed by the dryer and water heater.
Well, we will probably just leave it as it is. 100 EUR is not very much. So, it simply won’t be heated there.
