Hello everyone,
We are currently in the planning phase for the building permit / planning permission of our town villa with an extension on the ground floor. I have noticed in the floor plan that there is no underfloor heating planned for the utility room. However, according to our contract, we have underfloor heating on both the ground floor and the upper floor. Now I am wondering if I should insist on having underfloor heating in the utility room as well. The architect says that there are so many pipes running there that the floor will be warm anyway. I just don’t want to pay for something we won’t actually get.
We want to achieve KfW55 standard. Maybe this information is also important because of the ratio of heated surface to living area.
Thanks and best regards, Redsonic

This is often how the general contractor builds. It is the same for us. Underfloor heating is installed on the ground floor and upper floor, but not in the utility room, since the heating system is located there and therefore heating is not needed.
You do not pay for anything you do not receive, because if it were planned, your final house price would be higher. The calculation for your part of the house is based on “without heating in the utility room.”

If the underfloor heating manifold is there, many pipes lead to and away from it anywayIn our case, the underfloor heating manifold is _not_ located there.

We want to achieve KfW55 standard. Maybe this info is important regarding the ratio of heated floor area to living space. I hardly think leaving out underfloor heating in the utility room will be possible, especially not with KfW55. Wait for the relevant calculations and budget a bit extra for additional heating loops; that way you should be on the safe side.
