Hello,

does anyone happen to have their TV positioned under a band of windows and could share a few pictures with me?

If you had to choose, TV under the band of windows, couch opposite, allowing a view through the patio door on the same side as the TV

or

couch under the band of windows (with the garden behind, patio door basically on the couch wall, and the view then towards the opposite wall with the band of windows.

Does anyone have either of these setups?

Thanks and best regards

In both cases, the sun will cause glare, which makes shading necessary. However, the light coming in above the TV will likely be more disturbing even without direct sunlight.

I would rather consider removing the window entirely and instead making the patio door on the west side larger, for example as a lift-and-slide door.

Sofa facing outside.
I also like the ribbon window; after all, it’s not the only window.

Glare was a consideration, but probably not a big issue. Since the neighbor is to the west, it acts as a "glare shield." His house is set back a bit, so the view extends more to the right on the plan. I am positioned slightly beyond the building zone to the left on the plan (south). This means the western terrace door could be aligned with the front of his house, while the row of windows aligns with the height of his house.

Here is an idea... maybe a bit unconventional, to mount the TV on the upper interior wall using a swivel bracket.

Floor plan of a living room with a foldable TV on the right wall; stairs at the bottom right.

I would do it the way Andre77 suggests. We have something similar – next to the window on the wall, there is a shelf with all the equipment, and the TV is mounted on an articulating arm there. Further back – in your floor plan, that would be near the two patio doors – we have a retractable screen and a projector above the sofa. It’s great for movie nights.

The question, however, is how often you watch TV. We only do it in the evening. If your TV is on during the day, the swivel TV might get in the way.

I could also imagine placing the TV below the light strip, but during the day the window would probably need shading, otherwise it could become uncomfortable.

@Fummelbrett After I posted the idea about swiveling, I actually thought about installing a projector above the sofa with a screen that can be lowered when watching.
