Hello
I have the following question:
I want to equip the kitchen with Omlopp lighting, but I don’t want to control it with the Utrusta remote control; instead, I want to use the existing light switch.
If I use the Anslute connection cable, connect it to the light circuit, and keep the small switch on the connection cable always turned on, should the LEDs then always turn on with the light switch?
Or is this only possible with the remote control?

Hello! I’m currently looking into the Omlopp light as well, so here are a few notes.

The design of the Omlopp remote control is almost a crime, and the price is incomprehensibly high. However, officially, the Omlopp light can only be dimmed via the remote control provided by IKEA.

Of course, it is possible to connect (for example, a borrowed) remote, dim the light, and then always turn it on using an inline cable switch (on the cable between the outlet and the driver). This way, the light will always come on at the dimmed level, and the remote could theoretically be returned afterwards. Personally, I find the two light levels quite practical, so I will probably live with the ugly remote for now.

It is also possible to connect the driver input to a wall switch, provided you have the necessary expertise. If neither the inline cable switch nor the remote is operated further, the light can then be switched on or off using the wall switch.

The question remains whether the Omlopp lighting can be dimmed in any other way besides using the remote control. Has anyone discovered anything new about this?

Hello everyone, this is a bit older, but I'll give it a try anyway.
I would like to connect a standard dimmer to dim the omlopp lights under the kitchen wall cabinets, without using the Ikea remote control. The transformer is connected directly to the light switch, so without the original transformer’s switch. Currently, it’s controlled by a light switch, but I would like to replace that with a smooth, variable dimmer.
Any ideas?
