Hello dear home builders and experts,

This is certainly a difficult topic, but unfortunately, I couldn’t find any experience reports online. A friend mentioned to me that kitchens in Turkey are supposed to be much cheaper. Of course, “much cheaper” is a very general statement, and quality comes at a price, plus he only heard this through third parties. Nevertheless, I did some research, and the furniture industry in Turkey seems to be quite large. Also, given the inflation, this sounds plausible at first. I also found a website that appears to be reputable. What puzzles me is that there is very little other information available on this topic.

Does anyone have experience with this? Any other tips regarding kitchen purchases are also welcome.

Good luck

Maybe it’s because people like to see in person what they are about to pay around 20,000 euros for?

I admit, I never would have thought of ordering a kitchen from Turkey. So it doesn’t surprise me that I can’t find any information about it here…

Any tips? Our first kitchen was cheap and lasted 22 years – which was perfectly fine back then since we had other, more financially important priorities during the house construction. The new kitchen we installed 4 years ago is exactly how we wanted it – but by that time, everything had already been paid off and the price was less of a concern…

A colleague imported all his doors from Turkey. The doors look fine—I’ve seen them in person—and they don’t differ visually from those at Hornbach or Bauhaus. Including truck and transport costs, he probably saved around 20%. The waiting time was quite long, though, because otherwise the transport would have cost him extra.

He is installing them himself.

However, you are fully responsible for the transport, so if anything goes wrong or parts are missing, you can’t just quickly reorder anything.

Another person got his kitchen and windows from Bosnia. The kitchen alone cost 4000 euros plus installation. The appliances come from Germany, and visually it’s no different from German kitchens. I have no idea about the durability of the hinges and paint finish. The windows look cheap, with rough edges and glue residue on the plastic everywhere.

The problem of comparing quality remains. Without seeing such products in person, I would never buy them.

If you can do the installation yourself and don’t have to take liability for others, you can probably save money.

On one website, a complete offer (including installation) is available, at least in the Munich area.
I haven’t inquired there myself, as I’m not comfortable with the deposit.
Especially since there’s no additional information available.

Thanks anyway for your assessment.

Of course, you can import all your furniture and other items from around the world, but then you are subject to the terms and conditions of the country you choose. Usually, this means advance payment and shipping, without any guarantee that the company will still exist in three months or that everything will arrive in perfect condition and the quality you selected, whether ordered online or in person. Warranty service in a different language? No problem, many shops do it already, although in clothing and similar sectors, dissatisfaction exceeds 50%.
"Made in Germany" is overrated, and many windows and doors are already manufactured abroad. However, it’s not surprising that there are fewer carpenters available locally to install or repair items. Most tradespeople move into industry jobs since mass-produced goods are ordered to reduce costs instead of ordering from local craftsmen. Wooden furniture is now mainly familiar only to the oldest generation here.
Life can be unpredictable, and often when you think you’re saving money, there is a risk of learning the hard way.

As mentioned earlier, if you install everything yourself, you can save a generous 20%, which might be worth the adrenaline rush of wondering whether everything will be delivered as expected or ordered.

A quick tip. Küchenlagerverkauf24 Bad Lippspringe. Igor Schermer. They have new German brand kitchens for 4000 euros. It might be somewhat closer than Ankara.
