Hi everyone,

After months of juggling with kitchen planners, I thought I’d ask the friendly IKEA fans here and quickly signed up.

My kitchen is unfortunately only about 4 sqm (43 sq ft), but I’d still like to have “everything” you usually need – dishwasher, oven, extractor hood (vented through the chimney; this has already been cleared with the chimney sweep as the fireplace is “dead” and can be used for this purpose), and so on. The tricky part: a washing machine or washer-dryer combo also has to fit in there.

This is the current plan (the corner wall cabinet will probably be changed) – without a dishwasher. The cabinet on the left is supposed to house the washing machine or washer-dryer, but since IKEA doesn’t offer anything for that, I’ve just placed a cabinet with shelves as a placeholder. The fridge is intended for the far right, but my parents still have a small built-in fridge there, so it’s not included in the plan.

So what’s still missing is the microwave/oven/“combination appliance” and the dishwasher.

My question(s) now are:
- Are there “half-height” dishwashers that could fit under the sink? If not, I’d probably put a countertop dishwasher down there...

- Does anyone know if there are combination appliances that fit the cutout above? I only found devices without dimensions listed (or I simply didn’t find them).

If anyone has other ideas for the kitchen, I’m all ears!

Best regards,

Hello,

There are 45cm (18 inches) built-in dishwashers. However, whether they will fit under the sink and siphon depends on the specific installation situation. If in doubt, I would first measure the remaining space precisely after the kitchen is installed.
I am not familiar with an oven combined with a microwave designed for an upper cabinet.
Where is the waste bin supposed to go?
A floor plan showing doors and windows would be helpful.
Why are the upper cabinets so low?

For the small kitchen, you will need "rubber walls" to fit everything in.
If you plan a tall cabinet and give up 60cm (24 inches) of countertop space, there are more options for ovens/microwaves.

Hello,

There are 45 cm (18 inches) high ovens (also with microwave function) and 45 cm (18 inches) high dishwashers (see the answer from the IKEA expert), but these are all quite expensive appliances and do not fit the IKEA height module system. Narrower dishwashers are also available, including from IKEA.

Have you planned a corner panel to allow the doors to open properly?

Without knowing the specified dimensions, it’s difficult to provide meaningful advice.

Best regards,
Wolfgang

I didn’t mean the "apartment door," but the doors of the appliances or kitchen cabinets. Since you planned drawers under the cooktop, the cabinet (or appliance) to the left of the corner still needs to be able to open. If you don’t plan a corner cabinet, the handles might get in the way...

You can also share your IKEA design here; I’m not sure how to do that right now, but it’s well explained somewhere in this forum.
