Good day,

I recently bought a house built in 1957. Inside, there is a wooden beam ceiling, and I am wondering if it would be worthwhile to treat it (with varnish, stain, etc.). What do you think? What would be the best option? A stain?

Sunny greetings from Austria 🙂

Thanks and best regards,
Michael

Hello Michael,
What makes sense depends on how
1. The ceiling is pretreated and
2. What you want as the final result.

Hello Neige,

thank you for your reply.
The ceiling itself is currently raw – no pest or fungal infestation.
The final result is not relevant, as it will be insulated and then covered with drywall.

Best regards,
Michael

In that case, I would recommend a wood stain. It penetrates the wood and protects it almost from the inside.
