Hello everyone,
According to our site manager, the groundwork at our site could start in three weeks.
We haven’t booked any vacation yet, but we would like to travel for three weeks at the end of July.
Were any of you on vacation during the construction phase, or is there a specific period or stage when one should definitely be present?
Or can we just go away without any worries?
I asked the site manager, and he just said, “go ahead” 🙂
How did you handle this?

I recently watched a documentary on prefabricated houses on TV. Of course, the homeowners want to be there when the walls are lifted into place by a large crane. The construction manager or a homeowner babysitter explained everything. But from his expression, it was clear he would have preferred if the homeowners had been on vacation. 😀And our presence saved the carpenters a lot of time. The walls were loaded incorrectly and had to be sorted. My husband and I were able to match the walls without any plans. This made the process much faster.H

On August 4th, the foundation slab will be poured, and after that, the general contractor will be on holiday until the end of August.
We are flying out on Wednesday for vacation. I have informed the building inspector about the foundation slab schedule. He will come to check it.
And when work continues, we will already be back on site 😀 😀 Good thing I booked it 😀

JuliaMünchen19 Jul 2021 17:43Exactly, everything was done correctly 🙂 Enjoy it to the fullest!
Just before construction started, we experienced a heavy rain with 120 liters/m² (4.9 inches). Even days later, we had problems with trapped groundwater layers. The soil was not load-bearing. A new soil survey was necessary. Pile foundation was considered. There were new questions every day. I wouldn’t have slept a minute on vacation.
But if an expert is on site and overall not much happens, it can be managed. 🙂
