Sinclair7313 Apr 2020 20:14Hello,
I’m looking for a solution or ideas on how to sort and transport a large amount of stones from an old natural stone wall up a slope over about 10–15m (33–49 ft) without exhausting myself.
The natural stones come in all sizes (from 5kg to estimated over 50kg) and are the remains of a roughly 100-year-old natural stone wall. These stones are currently piled up where the parking spaces are supposed to be and need to be removed soon. I have enough space above the pile (about 3m (10 ft) higher and 10m (33 ft) away), but access for a truck or excavator is impossible. Loading and pushing wheelbarrows by hand around the house is probably not practical.
I’ve considered a kind of “cable system” with a pulley block and various other methods but have no experience whether that would work and be safe enough. I have space both below and above the stone pile but no proper anchoring option for a “carrying cable.” At most, I could use pallets or a wire cage, or a 1000-liter (264-gallon) water container on a pallet as anchoring weight.
If it were just vertical transport, a used construction hoist might work well. But I also need to cover the 10m (33 ft) horizontal distance.
Please share any ideas, preferably ones you have already tried yourself. Maybe there is a simple solution I haven’t thought of yet. I can provide pictures in the next few days if needed.
Thanks in advance!
Best regards, Sinclair

Motorized wheelbarrow is the keyword! Indeed, renting or possibly buying one. Without more detailed knowledge of the situation, this seems to be the solution.
