Hello,
I am very interested in your opinion on which is the better roofing option. Clay roof tiles or concrete roof tiles??? I have heard that concrete roof tiles weather over time!!!???
I don’t have much knowledge in this area.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of both options?
Best regards

Today, they are manufactured differently so they no longer weather like that.
Clay is more expensive.
And the rumor is still a reason for many to say: we have clay tiles, not the “bad” concrete roof tiles.
Here at Bauexperte forum, we have been told that this myth is misleading and we chose concrete... the money saved can be invested in other parts of the house.
Hello,
We also took quite a long time to decide what roofing to use for our current new build. In the end, we went with coated concrete roof tiles (Nelskamp). The deciding factor was the price. The argument that you rarely look at your roof from above, especially with a low roof pitch (20° (20°) in our case), made our decision easier.
Best regards,
Phil

nordanney13 Jul 2013 21:04We will choose clay roof tiles. According to our roofer, there is currently hardly any price difference compared to concrete roof tiles. Matte black engobed clay tiles from Creaton are currently available for under one euro per tile. At that price, I’m happy to stick with clay...

Bauexperte15 Jul 2013 11:05Hello,
A double-glazed concrete roof tile combines the desire for durability, appearance, and cost-effectiveness. Though I always find it amusing that mossy roofs are such a contentious topic, while at the same time calls for ecological solutions are growing louder.

K.Brodbeck schrieb:I would consider that wishful thinking because – as you correctly pointed out – the “original” clay roof tile no longer exists; or only at exorbitant prices (custom-made).
A clay roof tile is probably the one that lasts the longest.
