Hello,

With our concealed (in-wall) toilet flush system, the float valve was leaking. I took everything apart, removed the cylinder seal, flipped it 180°, and installed it again with a thin plastic washer cut from a 0.1mm thick sheet underneath. So far, so good, it’s now leak-tight.

However, after reassembling, I noticed that when the cistern fills, water spurts out from the float’s mounting pipe, which is attached at the top with an open clamp ring (visible in the photo on the right in white on the grey casing). At first, only a little water comes out, but the fuller the cistern gets — and the higher the float rises — the more water spurts out at the top. When the float reaches the top and closes the float valve, of course it stops. But this can’t be intentional or normal. I’ve removed, disassembled, and reinstalled everything several times without success. Everything moves freely, fits together without force, and nothing is broken or damaged. Since I don’t fully understand how this mechanism works (beyond the float rising and closing the inlet float valve), I’m asking the experts here what might be wrong with this symptom.

Is the float installed correctly, or is it the float inlet valve? Maybe look for an installation manual and check again to see if everything is properly fitted.

I found the problem. It wasn’t caused by the float; I hadn’t clipped the white “head” properly onto the float tube. This caused the float tube to slip down slightly under pressure, so its O-rings were positioned a bit too low and no longer sealed properly.
