Hello house-building forum!

Next week we will be installing the screed (flowing anhydrite screed). When would be a good time to start installing the wall tiles in the bathroom and toilet? Basically, I don’t need to wait for the screed to reach the appropriate residual moisture level for this, right?

Would it be possible to start after about 4 weeks, once most of the moisture has left the screed, and then move straight on to the floor tiles? Or am I misunderstanding something here?

The substrate is gypsum plaster in the toilet and lime-cement plaster in the bathroom.

Thanks a lot for your ideas/comments :-)

Best regards, Sushi

You should only install tiles once the remaining moisture level is sufficiently low. Your tiler should be able to tell you when they can and want to start laying the tiles.

Never install them too early. The screed releases a significant amount of water.

Does the residual moisture in the screed affect the lime-cement plaster on the wall?
That is exactly the crucial point where I have not found any information so far.

Thank you!

You should tile the floor first anyway, otherwise you'll end up with a real mess.

Nonsense – the wall tiles can be installed after at most one week.

Floor tiles, of course, only after the drying phase or when the residual moisture is appropriate.

I would be cautious; if the screed is not completely level, it needs to be evened out, otherwise the patchwork on the wall will look awkward.
