Hello,

a local tiler has installed tiles in about 90% of our house. On the ground floor, some tiles sound “hollow” when walked on, and in one spot, the grout raises up. I have now inspected the entire ground floor and found this issue in many different areas. That means, in some places two tiles are affected, elsewhere three adjacent ones, and some isolated cases. In total, I count about 25 affected tiles. I suspect that not enough tile adhesive was applied.

I contacted the tiler, and now a repair using a special high-viscosity resin is planned. The grout will be cut open and the resin poured in.

I have several questions about this:
- Is this method truly safe from a health perspective?
- Will the repaired areas achieve similar strength compared to conventional tile adhesive?
- Could the thermal conductivity be negatively affected? (We have underfloor water heating, and this is essentially a larger surface repair.)
- Will this repaired tiled floor have comparable durability in the long term?

Has anyone had experience with this kind of repair (to this extent)? What would be your recommendations on how to handle this issue? Tile dimensions are 120 x 30 cm (47 x 12 inches).

Thanks in advance.
