Hello
I am currently building a basement.
The concrete slab is about to be poured. So far, so good.
Once the basement is finished, I might lay tiles. Since I don’t want to lose several centimeters for a screed layer, my question is: Can I tile directly onto the concrete slab? A good flexible adhesive is a given.
Are there any other issues to be aware of? How smooth does the concrete need to be? Are unevennesses of 0.5 cm (0.2 inches) a problem?

When walking, I always notice unevenness with my toes, especially when I catch them on something :-) and 5mm (0.2 inches) is already a small amount.
Another thing to consider is sound insulation; anything that happens on the tiles will be transmitted to the masonry.
Otherwise, prime the surface and then lay the tiles.

Hello tomtom
The 5mm (0.2 inches) refers to the unevenness in the concrete slab that I was worried about. I want to avoid using leveling compound, as it’s not exactly cheap. I plan to even out the irregularities with tile adhesive. If there is any large area with a gap, I want to fill it with tile adhesive while installing the tiles.
