Bertram10027 May 2022 12:28Hello!
I want to tile the space between the washbasin and the mirror in the bathroom myself (as a splash guard). I still have some leftover tiles from the shower that I would like to use. Unfortunately, these are "difficult" tiles. They are Equipe Ceramica Lanze tiles, each with a pointed edge. Kind of like an arrow pointing in two directions.
I need to cut off the pointed part to get a straight edge against the wall. This can only be done with limited precision. Something always goes wrong.
How can I create a neat finish on the bottom edge of a tiled wall? The trim profiles available for tiles are only suitable for the top edge. There is no reversed version.

You just need to use the right tool. An electric wet tile cutter with an angle guide should allow cuts accurate to 0.5mm (0.02 inches), as the final tiny measurement deviations will be lost in the grout joint. Otherwise, your local tile specialist can also grind and polish tile edges (at least ours could).

Bertram10028 May 2022 08:37Yes, these are the tiles. I have a manual tile cutter here. Still, breaking along the scored line doesn’t come out as cleanly as it should. The tiles are quite thick; maybe that’s the reason?
As an amateur, achieving a perfectly clean result is quite rare, but it should be sufficient. As mentioned before, cut edges can be hidden behind a silicone joint. Are you planning for that, and it still isn’t enough? Plan B: cut in the middle? That should work better. Show us the tile cutter, maybe it’s a tool that can never work properly.
