Hello, we are currently in the process of choosing tiles. We have already decided on the tile itself, but we are still unsure about the size. :-(

Could you please share photos of tiles that are as gray as possible and include the dimensions?

Preferably for the entrance area or hallway.

Thank you in advance.

Have you followed my recommendation from post 13? If so, please show the result. Next question, what does your tiler recommend?

Is this format ideal for that, or am I wrong?

In a hallway two units wide, having only one unit on each side of the joint would make the single joint very noticeable, essentially acting as a centerline. That’s precisely what would bother me.

Considering our quite different tastes, it would probably be just right for you :-)

Which tile size would you choose for my hallway?
It’s driving me crazy that I don’t know how to address the narrow hallway.

Here is my floor plan.

I would appreciate any tips (especially regarding the flooring direction).

A few details for reference.
The house is 23.3 m (76.4 ft) wide.

The hallway to the living room is open, without a door.

Living room dimensions are approximately 8 x 7 meters (26 x 23 ft).
Entrance area is 3 x 3 meters (10 x 10 ft) for proportionality.

@blaupuma ... sorry, you’re posting such a fragmented piece here and expecting us to outline the possible tile layouts? That can only be done by a skilled tiler who has an eye for this and starts by laying out a few tiles to see how it looks. Or, as I mentioned above, you should at least make a start yourself. And if you expect our help, please attach a properly measured floor plan, preferably to scale, both as an image and as a PDF.

Because this kind of work needs to be done precisely, and you also have to consider the grout lines.

Also, sketch how far the tiled floor should extend, since you want to install hardwood flooring as well. What type of hardwood flooring? A picture would be helpful, too, etc.

Furthermore, there are plenty of pictures on Google where you can easily find and share examples of styles you (YOURSELF) really like.

There’s not much you can do to change that—the tiles alone won’t transform a narrow hallway into a large entrance area. There are plenty of examples online showing how square or rectangular tiles look in narrow hallways. It also depends on whether your tiles are light or dark, the color of the grout, and of course, personal taste.
