Hello everyone,

we have tiles in the size 60x120 cm (24x47 inches) for the bathroom.

How would you lay the floor tiles... parallel to the door or the other way around?

It’s best to create a sheet with the appropriate grid and lay it over the floor plan in both directions to see where the interfaces, etc. are.

Off the top of my head, I would start at the top right… 60cm (24 inches) to the left and 120cm (47 inches) down according to the plan. That should work well width-wise. Because in the door jamb, the hallway tile will probably be installed—right?

Thank you very much for your quick response.
Yes, that’s where the hallway floor will be.

So you would lay the long side basically from top to bottom, not parallel to the T? Meaning when you enter through the door, you walk toward the narrow side of the tile?

I would especially prefer if the shower area had no intersecting grout lines, which is why I made this initial suggestion. However, as I mentioned, I would work with a grid overlay on the floor plan and look at different versions to visualize the possibilities.

Yes, that's true. On the floor between the shower and the rest of the bathroom, we are planning a mosaic strip as wide as the T shape. Therefore, you could actually change the tile direction again in the rest of the bathroom. Somehow, my idea is that the tiles should be parallel to the T wall. But it’s just a gut feeling. And I don’t know which option makes the room look better. That’s why I’m asking here.

Now try that with the foil and the grid, and you can also upload some scans of it.

The room still lacks one dimension, the one from top to bottom.
