Hello everyone,
what is the general opinion in this forum about thermostatic mixer valves for the shower?
I have seen these occasionally in hotels and found them quite convenient. However, I am a bit concerned about their potential for malfunctions or defects.
We plan to install them in the three rental apartments in the house.
Looking forward to your opinions!

Hello everyone,
I would like to revisit this topic.
We are wondering if it makes sense to install a thermostatic mixer on the bathtub as well? That way, you can set, for example, 38°C (100°F) once, and the temperature will always be optimal without having to juggle between hot and cold water. If you have a small child, then yes. We don’t have one, and it’s just annoying.Mottenhausen schrieb:
My opinion: nobody really needs it Mottenhausen schrieb:
In the main bathroom it’s actually not really a question, since all better shower installations with rain shower heads come standard with a thermostat. Not everyone has a rain shower head by default. For example, it’s something I wouldn’t install in a rental apartment.

We’re wondering if it also makes sense to have a thermostatic mixer for the bathtub? Definitely. We bathe and sometimes need different temperatures for washing our hair.
However, the memory effect in your mind usually works just as well: 6 (on the dial) is comfortable, 6:30 is nice and hot. Hair washing is best at 5:30. That’s roughly 40, 38, and 36 degrees Celsius (104, 100, and 97 degrees Fahrenheit). So do you really need the thermostat for that?!?
