M4dmanHello dear community,
Things are getting serious now. We received a call that the foundation and floor slab will be completed this week, and here they already are.
A friend of ours (a former construction manager) pointed out that there might be a thermal bridge at the lower wall because the foundations are not insulated and the insulation on the floor slab only extends 20cm (8 inches) into the ground.
After checking with the site manager, we were told this is not a problem.
Do we need to take any action here?
What is your opinion on the possible thermal bridge?
Thank you very much.

Now a friend of ours (a former site manager) pointed out that Don’t get too worried... Many aspects of your house could probably be done better/higher/faster/farther. But not nearly everything is critical!
Did you hire a professional company for the construction?
Have you reviewed the plans and the concept before starting the work?
(Content-wise: See #2. In my opinion, this issue is also relevant for the interior walls. Ask about the “kimmsteine” or the “kimmschicht.” However, even if this applies, the house will be warm and will consume relatively little energy. With proper execution, damage in this area is not to be expected.)
