ᐅ Thermal bricks / Poroton and insulated facing bricks – Is this the optimal solution?

A colleague of mine is planning to have his house built soon using thermal bricks/Poroton combined with insulated facing bricks. Since discussions about wall constructions here often become almost like a religion, I wanted to open this up for discussion to see whether this might be a good solution.

The thermal insulation of this combination is said to be excellent. It is also supposed to be a solid choice regarding soundproofing, protection against summer heat, costs, vulnerability to construction defects, weather resistance, and appearance. But doesn’t everyone say that about their preferred system?

Building materials with high density provide good sound insulation.
All building materials have poor sound insulation if they are incorrectly connected to other components.

The ideal wall structure for me would be: sand-lime brick - mineral wool insulation - facing brickwork.

I also consider a cavity wall construction to be the best in terms of quality. However, I would not choose mineral wool for insulation. It only has idealistic advantages over EPS and otherwise only disadvantages, especially regarding cost and susceptibility to moisture.

I wanted the exterior to be more vapor-permeable, which is difficult with EPS but not a problem with mineral wool. So far, our insulation layer is dry, so I don’t expect any issues *knock on wood*

In theory, I would agree with you on the double-shell wall construction. Unfortunately, it seems that construction errors occur much more often with double-shell systems, and the additional costs should not be underestimated.

For the double-shell option, I would use thermal bricks, PUR (polyurethane), and bricks.
