HoisleBauer2212 Aug 2023 00:07We have planned tiles throughout the entire ground floor of our new build, similar to the ones in the attached photo. They are called Kermos Stoneline natural beige, sized 30cm by 60cm (12 inches by 24 inches). We have also planned to use them as wall tiles in the bathroom. Now we are considering installing the same tiles throughout the basement as well. Would that be "too much of a good thing"? I would be interested in your opinions and pictures on this.

HoisleBauer2212 Aug 2023 09:57It’s both. I want to have an office in one room and a hobby room in another (more like a “living basement”), each with floating oak click parquet flooring. The tiles would be for the entrance area, utility room, workshop, and storage room (more like a “service basement”). The design idea is that we will have a continuous oiled oak finger-jointed staircase/stairwell from the upper floor down to the basement. The aesthetic/design consideration was to coordinate the tiles with that. The tiles cost about €35 net per square meter (around $35 per square meter) for materials. An alternative would, of course, be completely different tiles in the basement.

I personally like to use different flooring in secondary rooms, but it really depends on the overall design of the house. From your description, with an office/basement living area, I can imagine it works very well to have tiles downstairs too.
What do you have planned for the upper floor?

What do you have on the upper floor? On the upper floor, engineered hardwood flooring is planned throughout (3 bedrooms + hallway), and the same tiles will be used again in the bathroom. I wonder if, for consistency and practicality, tiles should also be installed in the hallway upstairs. How have you done it?Similar topics
