Hello everyone,

As mentioned above, we want to get a robotic lawn mower to start the spring season.
Which ones do you use, recommend, or avoid, and why?
Does it have to be a Husqvarna, or is a Worx also good enough? Why one and not the other?
I’m very interested in hearing about your experiences.

Best regards
Tarnari

I have about 400m² (4,300 sq ft) on three sides of the house. Mostly straight surfaces or large obstacles. I've installed 16cm (6 inches) mowing edges everywhere. But I can't imagine that the chaotic pattern will mow everything properly. I'm still undecided whether to just test it or wait another 2-3 years—there will definitely be some developments by then...

@rick: You recommended the 450X, but the 315X should be technically quite similar, just smaller. I think that might be the right one for me. Or would the 430X be better?

Okay, reading this, it seems that installing a robotic lawn mower in our garden would be too complicated and not very practical. I usually have mowing edges around the flower beds, but not along the walls, and some beds don’t have them either. I also don’t have mowing edges around the wildflower meadows, certain roses and raspberries, hydrangeas, blackberries, or most bushes, and so on. I’m also not willing or able to spend that much money. Especially considering that during the summer we often hardly need to mow at all because nothing grows due to three consecutive years of drought...

Just creating a sketch would take me a while since there’s a lot going on everywhere. Roses, hydrangeas, perennial beds, vegetable beds, fruit trees, wildflower meadows, raised beds, flower beds... then the outbuildings and the pavilion, and so on. It’s more of a wild, natural garden. For example, I also have about 3m² (32 sq ft) of clover that I leave until after flowering for the insects.

I think I’ll switch back to a battery-powered mower. And in a few years, the kids can take care of it 😎

The advice about the 450x was overkill.
Your green area sounds similar to @Tarnari’s.
So, nothing complicated. And yes, it will get chaotic—everything, really everything, will be covered.
We have the 315x on the garage roof. This model is a bit louder and initially had issues with the motors becoming noisier over time. No problems anymore now.
One boundary wire will be enough for you.
The 315x also has GPS.
You don’t have to wait. The technology works very reliably.
The 315x should run about a quarter to half a day (7 days a week). If that’s not enough, you need to size up (430x).
The edge strip width is about 12–15cm (5–6 inches), depending on the angle. So, your mowing edges are wide enough.

@Winniefred Freestanding shrubs are simply enclosed using boundary wire.
It’s not really complicated. But I don’t think a robotic mower would really fit into your garden concept.
Buy a good battery-powered lawn mower (for example, from Stihl).

I’m bringing this topic up again. Our Luna has been doing her hard work for several months now and she’s really doing well. She doesn’t complain, doesn’t chatter, is reliable, and so on.

“The machine never gets tired”
(Those who know, know…)

Since she spends quite a long time “resting” in direct sunlight, I thought a garage would be necessary. I find the Gardena cover outrageously expensive and not very appealing. So I turned to the big river (the internet) and ordered another one, which I’m currently painting and will assemble soon. Photos will follow.

In this context, I thought I’d ask the community how you handle this and what you have used and why. Or is this even overrated, and do you simply do without it altogether?
