Hello everyone,

Our foundation slab was covered today, and I checked the measurements.

The external dimensions are all correct, but some of the wastewater pipes and empty conduits are slightly off from the planned positions.

About half of the wastewater and empty conduits for electricity/water in the garage are 5-8 cm (2-3 inches) away from the original plan, while others are only 1-2 cm (0.4-0.8 inches) off.

We are having a prefabricated house built, and I think the measurements should be as precise as possible, otherwise the pipes might end up outside the walls.

Do you think a deviation of 5-8 cm (2-3 inches) is still acceptable tolerance, or is that too much for a prefabricated house? Will the slab need to be chipped open and corrected? Is it even possible to easily fix such small deviations?

Thanks a lot

Site manager, ask him. For our house, it would have been definitely possible.

That depends. If the (presumably) DN110 is reduced to DN50, then you can easily bend it 10cm (5 inches) below the screed. If it remains DN110 for the larger parts, it can be more difficult. Therefore: ask the site manager.

I don’t know how this is planned in your case, but for most prefabricated houses, the main utility lines are not located inside a wall but outside of it. So you should rather be concerned that the main utility lines are not shifted "inside" a wall.

So mine are embedded in the wall... But no matter how, depending on which axis it was shifted, there can definitely be problems.

We also had such discrepancies, but they were within the tolerance range and later went unnoticed (solid construction).
Ultimately, it is a problem for your home builder; there is little you can do about it now.
Who commissioned the foundation slab? You or the house company?
