Hello everyone,
the network installation I commissioned includes a double socket in every room. These all connect to a patch panel in the utility room. What is the easiest way to test the sockets and cables for functionality and correct data rate with the least financial and time effort?

Best regards

Just google "pockethernet"!!! It's a completely new device that I received last week. Very neat tool and available at a bargain price!

Unfortunately, it’s currently sold out again due to high demand.

Also wire the network cabling. I bought a set with a punch-down tool and a tester for this. I think it cost about 20 euros. You connect a device on both ends, and it measures all 8 wires.

The tools from the LSA sets for 20€ only test continuity. Nothing more. They won’t tell you if a gigabit connection can be established.
A proper measuring device costs several hundred euros.

If you have commissioned this, ask them for a test report.

Otherwise, connect two computers and test the throughput using the program “iperf“.

Network cabling should be commissioned with a test report. Having your own testing equipment is completely unnecessary.

Thank you, that makes a good impression.
However, what do you think about the items under 200€?
