Hello, the title may not describe the situation accurately enough.

The problem with our mid-terrace house is that during the shell construction phase, the electrician installed an underground cable to the carport (the end of the cable comes out of the ground at the carport). However, back in 2005, since we didn’t see any need for it and did not include it in the electrical planning contract, the electrician (according to his own statement) cut it off or rendered it unusable.

Now the question is whether I can still connect it. As I understand it, the cable was already underground and he probably didn’t dig it up to cut it. I assume he cut or shortened it somewhere at or inside the house. My idea would be to find the point where the cable enters the house and extend it again from there or run it from that point to the distribution panel.

However, I have no idea where the cable might enter the house. There is a utility connection box by the front door. In the basement, only the telecom cable comes through the wall. Otherwise, the wall is "clean," without cables leading into the house. Therefore, I assume that all cables go to the utility connection box and then together into the house. Based on the location of the box, it seems the main cable enters the house at floor level.

Now my question (which I never looked into before): Are cables typically embedded in the shell construction, practically in the precast concrete slab under the screed? Is this commonly done? Does the main cable go directly to the distribution panel during electrical installation, where it is then distributed? Is it likely that an electrician would have run the connection cable for the carport parallel to the main cable (if not – as in our case – the cable was never connected) and thus would not lead it into the house separately?

If so, I could expose it at the main connection, extend it, and introduce it separately into the house.

At the carport, the cable can be energized with a signal, allowing it to be traced. It most likely ends at the meter panel.

That’s exactly what I did as well, although using a basic cable tracer device. I connected and grounded the signal on one end. Unfortunately, no success. Either the radio signal appears all around the distribution box and in the basement (in completely illogical places), or sometimes not at all.

No cable is visibly entering the distribution box either (I removed the drywall cladding to check this). All cables are connected except for this particular 5-core underground cable. Therefore, I suspect it either ends in the main connection box (possibly cut) or was routed with the main line behind the box into the house. Unfortunately, I cannot find any visible entry point inside the house, so I believe it may be located somewhere under the screed.

The electrician who worked on it at the time either cannot or does not want to recall where or how the cables might be routed.
