We are currently about to begin excavation for our planned single-family house in the Heilbronn district, so it is time to further detail our rough exterior planning and finally coordinate our ideas with potential partners.
In this process, we are looking for a suitable partner for a fixed terrace roof. Through online research, apart from major providers (such as KD roofing systems) and some regional suppliers, we came across Schmidt roofing systems. This is a franchise company with branches in Ulm, Tübingen, and Heilbronn.
I visited the Heilbronn branch last summer and, based on the exhibited samples (concept, materials, quality, sizing, additional features, etc.), was convinced by the excellent product and material concept. I requested a premium offer for our intended roofing design from the branch manager.
Based on this, my question is: Does anyone in the forum have experience with Schmidt roofing systems regarding planning, implementation, service, the product itself, and durability?
I would appreciate it if you could share your experiences with me.

We also built in the HN district. I got several quotes from different companies, but Schmidt wasn’t on my list. In the end, we actually went with KD because they were affordable and had proven reliable and good with three former neighbors.
Our experience in the end: yes, they are okay, but you need to be somewhat proactive, and the staff who come for the assembly speak only a few words of German. Overall, though, they delivered well.
If you do decide to go with KD, I definitely would NOT recommend Würzburg. We had KD Göppingen, and they gave the impression they were more focused on selling than anything else...

WilderSueden5 Nov 2022 14:54Is there anyone with Schmidt roofing systems by now? I was at the branch in Stockach earlier, and 9,000 for a 4x4m (13x13 ft) unit including an under-roof awning, foundations, and installation seems quite reasonable.

WilderSueden6 Jul 2023 09:37The day before yesterday, my canopy was installed, so here are my impressions. The installers arrived punctually at 8 a.m.; out of the three workers, one spoke some German. The assembly was well organized, and everyone knew their tasks. Most of the debris was taken away, but I still found a small load of miscellaneous trash and quite a bit of metal drilling residue. The connection of the LEDs and the awning to the power supply was done, even though according to the contract this was supposed to be done on-site by the customer. Each comes with its own remote control; here, I would have preferred if everything was integrated into one system.
The biggest criticism is the integrated gutter, which simply matches the front profile. This makes it impossible to create a slope for proper drainage while keeping the front edge straight. Also, some silicone was used at the gutter inlet, causing a few millimeters of water to remain standing in the gutter.
Apart from that, I am quite satisfied. The total cost was $10,200 for a 5 x 3.5 m (16.4 x 11.5 ft) canopy with an under-roof awning and six LEDs.

This is what you mean by the drainage channel integrated into the profile and why a few millimeters of water remain in it.
