Corini198525 Sep 2018 22:07Hello everyone,
Since we are currently building our semi-detached house but the neighboring lot has not been sold yet, we will probably have to temporarily insulate the wall facing the other house. What are your experiences with this? What are good and affordable options to handle this situation, considering that I will have to remove it later?
I was offered a reduced price of 600 euros for 2cm (0.8 inches) of mineral fiber insulation board type T for 133.5 m² (1,437 sq ft), and an additional cost of 4,500 euros for installing 10cm (4 inches) of rigid foam insulation boards with a thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/mK for the same area. That seems quite expensive, especially since I will need to dismantle everything again later, which will also cost several thousand euros.
Thanks for your advice.

Corini198526 Sep 2018 14:07Hello, thank you.
The plot has not been sold yet but should be sold soon. When the buyer will build is uncertain, but they only have 2 years to do so.
No one is forcing it, but I was told it is necessary, especially to prevent mold from rain and moisture, particularly over the winter. I probably can’t just leave it as is, or am I mistaken? Thanks

Corini198527 Sep 2018 21:36Does anyone know if it would be legally problematic not to insulate (due to energy-saving regulations / building codes) and whether damages could be expected after 1-2 winters without insulation, or would we 'only' have significantly higher heating costs? Thanks
It simply depends on the wall.
What is included in the standard package?
Completely uninsulated and plastered?
Or some insulation followed by plaster?
Either way, you only have a problem if there is any exposed insulation that can get damp.
If that’s not the case, you just heat a bit more for 1-2 years and it’s fine.
