I am currently considering this. Since nowadays you can watch TV via internet connection (IPTV), I am thinking about choosing either option.

Now the question about monthly costs. Has anyone calculated this by any chance and can give a recommendation?

For the cable connection, do I have to pay an additional monthly fee for the connection on top of the cable provider’s charges for TV/phone/internet?

Best regards

In detail:

You only incur costs for both of the mentioned connections if you actually use them as part of your contract. The costs depend on the type of contract and the scope (this should be clear).

Then there are the one-time installation costs. These are, in both cases to my knowledge, around 1000 euros. Both also offer a discount if you sign a contract right away for the first two years.

The rest is just a matter of calculation.

Costs for cable connection (including telephone and internet contract): approx. €550
Cost for telecom connection: approx. €200
Just a rough estimate, as I don't have my documents on hand right now (Unitymedia in NRW)
Otherwise, as toxicmolotow describes.

Unitymedia costs 398 euros if no further excavation is required on the property or electrical installation (EL) is done. Telekom costs 399 euros plus garden excavation (electrical installation is also possible here).

Unfortunately, cable is not available in our area – UM was really a great option!

Unitymedia, for example, becomes more expensive if the connection is installed as a precaution without signing a contract.
