I am currently considering this. Since nowadays you can watch TV via internet connection (IPTV), I am thinking about choosing either option.
Now the question about monthly costs. Has anyone calculated this by any chance and can give a recommendation?
For the cable connection, do I have to pay an additional monthly fee for the connection on top of the cable provider’s charges for TV/phone/internet?
Best regards

However, we watch TV via satellite 🙂
Phone and internet are connected via cable or the telecom provider as a backup solution.
Monthly costs are therefore only for internet/phone — depending on the chosen options, it probably starts at around €20 per month.

We had both options installed to keep our choices open.
Additionally, RWE installed a fiber optic connection to the house without being asked. This is probably in preparation for a future telecommunications service (internet via power line?).
Currently, we are not using the telecommunications connection at all. We have everything running entirely through Kabel Deutschland, as we were quite satisfied with the connection in our previous apartment. Therefore, we pay for phone/internet (phone number from Kabel Deutschland) as well as television with the "small" HD package.
In two years, once the costs for the outdoor area are paid off, we will consider satellite TV (which we had to cut from the construction budget for cost reasons).
