ᐅ Telecom Connection – Line Already Installed, Still Have to Pay $600?

I applied for my internet and phone connection with the telecom provider. In the meantime, the local energy supplier (a small regional company) has already installed the phone cable to the house.

The cable now only needs to be connected to the telecom provider’s network and the "APL box" inside the building needs to be connected. No more earthworks are required. (I wanted to complete all excavation work in one go, which was successful).

I have now read that in this case the telecom provider is not allowed to charge for the connection – can anyone provide more detailed information on this?

The telecom company said that no excavation work was included – we asked twice to be sure and even did the digging ourselves... then, just as we were almost finished, the civil engineer called, came over, and laughed at us for digging ourselves – he said he would have done it (and then ended up doing the last part).
To this day, I still don’t know if excavation work is always included or not.

It is not included with Telekom. Therefore, it is advisable to lay the telephone cable at the same time as the other utility lines.

That's right, I just checked – they would have charged a lot if it had been handled separately from electricity and water.

As it was, everything was completed within one day by an underground contractor.

So, 599.95€ was charged to us two days ago as a flat fee for earthworks. Since these were also carried out on our property (the cable was laid on the site), I am confident about this, and the friendly lady from the homeowners’ hotline clearly communicated it beforehand. Maybe it varies depending on the subcontractor. And this flat fee is really reasonable.

For us, two workers dug for half a day, then a technician from the telecom company came because they couldn’t locate the cable. In the end, it was simply buried very deep on the property.

But everything was included in that price. Otherwise, it would have been quite expensive.

The original 400 euros included the excavation work.

That's absolutely impossible, as excavation work is significantly more expensive. They already charge about 50 euros per meter of digging...
