Hello everyone,

We had both a Telekom and a cable connection installed in our house. Originally, I had chosen the cable connection for internet and phone service, but I would now like to change that due to new contracts and terms from Unitymedia.

Both companies offer a discounted house connection if you sign a contract with them directly, with Telekom charging €398 instead of €598, and Unitymedia €550 instead of €900. Unitymedia has already charged me €550 with the note that I should order the cable connection by the end of May; otherwise, the remaining amount will be invoiced.

Shortly before that, I received the bill for the Telekom connection (6 months after installation *g*) for €598, and on the phone, they told me that the discount applies only when ordering a Telekom connection.

So now I have a few questions for those with experience:
Was it the same for you?
Are there deadlines for the connection?
Who is best to order the connection from (online or in-store) and what additional documents do I need to submit?

Before I speak with 25 Telekom agents who don’t know anything, I’d rather ask how it has worked for others *g*.

Thank you!

Yes, I just can’t seem to find it
//EDIT: OK, looked again and found behind an asterisk that you have to sign up for a MagentaZuhause plan through the home builders’ hotline. Always those annoying footnotes, but at least that’s exactly what I want.

So, everything is fine then... Better than any restrictive contracts or other dubious agreements that they try to push on you over the phone.

What is the difference compared to the standard contracts from professional companies?

I have already received calls where promises were made over the phone, stating that the contract had been extended, but in the end, something completely different arrived. (A phone in the wrong color, and the contract was not an all-inclusive flat rate but only included certain minute packages, which fortunately was noticed before signing). So, they are simply lying on the phone, hoping that people trust what is said and sign!

Yes, I understand. You don’t really finalize anything over the phone anyway. In this case, I probably won’t have any other choice *g*.

It didn’t matter anyway, because nothing had been signed at that point. So it didn’t cost anything, and the stuff was simply returned, refusal of acceptance...
