ᐅ Take old/previous furniture to the new house or start completely fresh?

When I see photos of interior furnishings of houses here in the forum, I often get the impression, "Oh, everything looks so nice and new." Does anyone also bring old/previous furniture with them, or is almost everything replaced? My husband and I will be taking all our old/previous furniture with us. Is that still common nowadays, or is it considered strange in some way?

Most of the items were taken with us.

I made some modifications to the kitchen and installed a new countertop. The only new pieces were the sofa and the bathroom furniture. Additionally, I built a built-in closet in the hallway. We also used a few Ikea Ivar parts for the storage spaces.
The previous sofa and a used wall unit from a friend were placed in the guest/study room. Shortly afterward, the dining table and chairs were replaced as well.

Many items will be gradually replaced during the first major renovation of the individual rooms.

So, what I would advise against is taking the kitchen with you and trying to add to it. We did that, and financially it was not worth it compared to buying new.
The rest of our furniture all came with us and will be moved again now, with some pieces exchanged and/or added.
We also take into account when planning our house that the existing furniture will fit.

Of course, we did take the kitchen with us—at least partially. We sold the fairly new stove along with the relatively new range hood. We gave away the old dishwasher. The rest of the kitchen ended up in the basement workshop. Plenty of storage space for tools, paints, and craft supplies. And not to be underestimated is the beverage fridge in the workshop... 😉

Oh, and naturally, we treated ourselves to a new kitchen after all.

Yes, taking the kitchen with you is never worthwhile. It is extremely expensive to make adjustments, and it will never be 100% perfect.

@Pinkiponk : Taking things along is definitely not "out"; incremental moving is actually "in."
What I also want to mention: For our move, we managed with 2 small vans for 4 people, including all our belongings. Some garden tools and equipment were transported to the construction site and house in the car on various occasions. We decided to skip hiring a moving company. The feeling was very liberating.

We are taking everything with us but will replace everything gradually.
Priority is the garden for now. We can still use our furniture.

We are taking our kitchen with us.
It was originally purchased for 5k and later expanded for 6k. Total cost 11k.
If we were to design a new one, it would be around 15k. That’s still a 9k difference, which you have to have upfront.
