Hello,

I originally thought this would be a five-minute task.

The objective:
Find a motion sensor from Gira or Busch-Jäger (because of quality; other manufacturers with comparable quality are also welcome) that can be surface-mounted outdoors to activate a lamp.

The problem:
With both Gira and Busch-Jäger, I only find flush-mounted sensors, or the surface-mounted ones all have a large dome and look like a high-tech surveillance camera.
Both options are things I do not want.
I was expecting a small, square box and that would be it.

Am I missing something, or do I have to accept one of these two options, or are there other very good manufacturers who offer something suitable for me?

Thank you very much.

Okay, I got the name "Gira Wächter 70" from an acquaintance.
That is exactly the kind of product I am looking for.

If you search for "Gira motion detector" on Gira’s website or on Google, you won’t find it. Strange.

Take a look at Merten.

I would also like to suggest Steinel as a manufacturer...

The Steinel looks quite decent too; it’s sold, among other places, in hardware stores and is somewhat more affordable. But would you say it can compete in quality with Gira?

Hm, the Gira Wächter 70 has a coverage angle of only 70°. That means 35° to each side. That's not very much...
The one from Steinel with 180° is better in that regard, and you can limit the range anyway.
