Hello everyone,

I need to tap into the collective knowledge of the forum once again.

Currently, the access road/(construction) road to our new housing development is being installed.

Under the road, only two plastic pipes are visible (1x wastewater and 1x green empty conduit):

Construction site with excavated trenches, pipes, and large soil piles; workers in the background.

Round concrete channel cover in a trench with brick base, wooden sticks and pipes nearby.

Excavation pit with pink PVC pipe, round concrete channel and wooden stakes in gravel.

Today, I seriously started wondering where the utility lines for
– fiber optic
– power/ground cables
– water connection
– possibly gas line

are located?

Usually, the wastewater pipe is the deepest pipe under the road, isn’t it?

However, in picture 1 it can be seen that the back part of the road – aside from the asphalt layer which is already finished – has no visible channels or utility lines emerging.

I’m a bit confused and hope for some clarification. 😀

Thanks in advance!

No idea how it is usually done, but for us, gas, water, and so on run underneath the sidewalk.

There also appears to be nothing beneath the future sidewalk. This is clearly visible in the utility trenches leading to the individual plots (images 1 and 3).

Or will it be reopened later? I can hardly imagine that. It wouldn't make any sense at all.

That’s exactly how it’s done. There’s hardly any other way, since if all the utility installers worked at the same time, they would get in each other’s way with the construction equipment and trenches. Typically, due to the different elevations of the utilities within the road structure, the construction sequence is as follows: first the deep utilities, like the sewer, then water, followed by gas/district heating, and finally copper, fiber optic cables, electricity, and empty conduit systems.

@MayrCh

Oh, great. Thanks!

It doesn’t make much sense to me, but I’m relieved that nothing was forgotten. :-)

Do you think the surveyor can already carry out the elevation survey of the plot and prepare a site plan so that we can move forward with the building permit / planning permission?

The length and width of the plot have already been measured, and the boundary markers have been set.
