ᐅ Suitable Patio Surfaces for Gravel or Decorative Stone Floors

Hello everyone,

I am considering improving the terrace of my rental apartment. Currently, part of it is covered with coarse gravel, which is rarely used. I would like to create a lounge or seating area there.

Are there suitable terrace floorings that can be installed on this type of base? As a simple and reversible solution, I have thought about something like a synthetic carpet, roll-out lawn, or artificial turf. Is that feasible on this surface? Are there other types of flooring that might work as well?

Removing the gravel is hardly an option, as the gravel bed is quite deep.
