We will have a plank floor installed. It will be screwed onto a subframe made of timber battens. Insulation will be placed between the battens. To achieve the correct level, all the battens have been leveled using plastic wedges. This means that all the top supporting beams now rest on these plastic wedges. I am quite concerned about whether this plastic will last as long as my beautiful floor. Plastic ages and eventually becomes brittle... that is my worry. The top battens could then sag. I would appreciate your advice on whether my concern is justified. Best regards, Steffi33.

That's relatively harmless there. Plastic breaks down due to UV light, but it will get dark soon.

As far as I know, it has to be done this way to reduce impact sound.
Is this an existing building?

I had to google what afaik means first... I’ve never heard of it before.

No, it’s a new build, with a concrete slab foundation underneath.

P.S. I think my question fits better in the Materials section. Maybe an admin could move it?

Hello,

Don’t you have underfloor heating?

Exactly, in the plank flooring area we only have radiators. Underfloor heating is only installed in the tiled area. Best regards, Steffi33.
