AloohaHello,
I bought 3 Pax carcases, each 100cm (40 inches) wide, plus doors.
However, I am missing a stop for the two doors in the middle where they meet.
When I took the doors from the shelf, there was a note indicating that 3 components belong to this: the door, the hinges, and a third part that I didn’t find. I didn’t think of the stop at the time and later forgot to ask a salesperson about it. Also, I wasn’t sure if the note actually referred to these doors because it was fixed more above the neighboring shelf.
I haven’t installed the doors yet. Maybe they close quite tightly already, and a stop at the top and bottom might be sufficient. However, a vertical strip running from bottom to top in the middle would probably be better.
Does anyone know about this and can provide information on a third element that IKEA offers, or maybe post a link to it? That would be very helpful.
If necessary, I can make a strip myself, especially since my trip to IKEA is quite far.
Have a nice day,
Alooha

Herr rossi12 Nov 2014 14:06Hi Alooha,
the doors don’t need a stop in the middle because they close against the floor at the top and bottom. Each door is 5mm (0.2 inches) smaller than the total width of your cabinet. This creates a gap of about 5mm (0.2 inches) between the two doors. You can also reduce the gap slightly by adjusting the set screws on the hinges.

Hello "Mr. Rossi",
What you wrote is exactly right: I tried installing two doors as a test, and it went well without any help. This system, where you first connect the part mounted on the door to the part mounted on the cabinet frame, then attach the whole assembly first to the door and then to the frame, is really brilliant.
Unfortunately, I’m missing 50% of the fittings because I didn’t realize that only two are included per door, but for this height, three are necessary. I hope I can order the additional ones from IKEA, since I live quite far away.
Regarding the gap, I would prefer if it were possible to close it fully to prevent dust from entering, but so far I don’t see how that could be achieved.
Best regards
Alooha
