I really like natural stone walls in living spaces, like in these pictures of stone walls:

Modern 3D living room lounge with stone wall, white corner sofa, and pendant lights.

Does anyone have experience with this?
Do you use regular bricks or specially made stone veneer panels?
How do you keep something like this clean (for example, is it also suitable as a backsplash behind a cooktop in the kitchen)?
I’m also interested in the costs for these types of stone walls...
Thanks in advance!

Both options were considered, but the landlord has already been asked and is not cooperating. Therefore, that option is off the table. I have also seen the panels with adhesive sides, but at the same time I heard that some of them have fallen off the walls. So, I don’t think the panels with adhesive sides are very reliable. My last idea would be to leave the wallpaper as it is and then attach the polystyrene panels directly onto the wallpaper, since polystyrene seems to be the lightest material.

Then I would first apply smooth fleece wallpaper and on top of that, whatever you prefer.

Then just go ahead and do it the way I suggested in #20. You can build the partition wall from wood, attach it to the wall with a few screws, cover it with panels, and then stick your polystyrene on it. Don’t make it more complicated than it is.

So, it's not recommended to glue a polystyrene foam board directly onto the existing woodchip wallpaper? (That would be the easiest option for me)

No, rather not. It’s better to drill battens into the wall and then attach the facing bricks to them.

What do you think about this adhesive (universal adhesive)? I’m now unsure whether this adhesive can be easily removed afterward.
