I really like natural stone walls in living spaces, like in these pictures of stone walls:

Modern 3D living room lounge with stone wall, white corner sofa, and pendant lights.

Does anyone have experience with this?
Do you use regular bricks or specially made stone veneer panels?
How do you keep something like this clean (for example, is it also suitable as a backsplash behind a cooktop in the kitchen)?
I’m also interested in the costs for these types of stone walls...
Thanks in advance!

If you absolutely want a wall that can be dismantled later, you might consider building it as a drywall partition. This can be made either from wood or metal studs, covered with drywall panels, brick slips, or any other finish you prefer. The downside is that you lose some room depth, but it can be removed with minimal effort and almost no damage.

You have really helped me a lot. I would have assumed that removing the EPS boards would be much easier. They are of course supposed to be glued. Is it also the adhesive that makes the EPS boards so difficult to remove afterward?

Is there another type of adhesive that might be easier to remove later on? As I mentioned, there is a layer of wallpaper (woodchip) on it. I’m not very familiar with this, so I’m asking...

Basically, I would say:
The easier the adhesive can be removed, the easier the stone tiles will come off the wall.

Or the other way around:
The heavier the object you want to hang on the wall is (stone tiles are not exactly light), the stronger the adhesive needs to be, and the harder it will be to remove it.

There is also plastic with a stone look. I saw it once at H...b.... It might be that you only need to screw or nail it on, without any gluing. Everyone will have to decide for themselves how realistic it looks. I don’t remember exactly how authentic it appeared.

That’s clear, the question should only refer to the Styrofoam panels. So 16 square meters (172 square feet) of Styrofoam panels on the wall. Is there an adhesive for this that can still be removed easily afterwards? Nailing them to the wall is not visually appealing to me.
