Hello everyone,

I am currently working on a construction project and I'm not sure if it will actually work out as planned.

Basically, it's quite simple. I have a larger carport measuring 15m (49 feet) in length and 5m (16 feet) in width, made from a steel frame (basically built in the same way as large industrial halls!). Now I want to install walls all around (on three sides, with a gate to be installed at the front).
I don’t want to place the bricks in front of or behind the steel beams, but exactly in between them. So that I don’t lose any space— is that possible? Or are there issues with expansion, or is this generally not done?

This is how I imagine it (they are U-profiles or something like that, coming from the steel beams).
Example: 15m (49 feet) wall from beam to beam, the “[” represent the beams and the “-” represent the bricks ;-)

I would appreciate your assessment.

You state your profession as carpenter – so I find it surprising that you are more inclined toward masonry than drywall in your thinking.

It should be built from stone, not wood.

Of course, that’s possible. What’s important is a proper foundation.

Why not use timber construction?
