Two people, two opinions: Our landscaping contractor recommends using clay pavers for the terrace, laid loosely.

The stone supplier he also suggested prefers ceramic tiles with a fixed installation.

Background: We are planning a natural-style garden, so it will be rather wild, with meadow instead of lawn, curved shapes, not angular and modern ;-)

However, in our view, both types of stone would visually fit well. The clay pavers would be brown-red-multicolored, while the ceramic tiles are beige-gray. In terms of price, both stones cost the same per square meter (40 Euro), as the tiles are a special offer (clearance sale). Our house is detached, with red-white-black multicolored brickwork (Röben Dykbrand Flemish multicolored) and dark green window frames, and a gable roof with black roof tiles.

Now we are simply undecided and are hoping for some additional opinions or points we might not have considered...?

The advantages and disadvantages as we know them:
Clay pavers: loose installation is much cheaper, "more natural," fits better with the natural garden concept, quicker to replace, requires more maintenance because stains are visible, not pleasant for barefoot walking, ants/weeds.

Ceramic: fixed installation is more expensive but more durable, no ants/weeds, low maintenance, but if poorly installed -> possible water accumulation underneath and difficult to replace (individual new stones/joints may have a different color than the old ones, etc.).
