Ken.SHello everyone,
As the title suggests, I am looking for the better option to install a new floor.
The property is an existing building (built in 2006) that we purchased and will receive in October. The entire house has tiled floors and underfloor heating. In both children's rooms, the bedroom, and the hallway (upstairs), we want to replace the tiles with a different type of flooring. This covers almost 50m² (540 sq ft) in total.
There are two options:
Option 1 involves less work, but is it also advisable or recommended considering the existing underfloor heating? If option 2 is chosen, should the new flooring (vinyl, parquet, etc.) be glued down to ensure better heat transfer from the underfloor heating?
Best regards and thanks in advance
Ken

There are two options:
- Leave the tiles, apply about 2mm (0.08 inches) of leveling compound and 2mm (0.08 inches) of vinyl flooring
- Remove the tiles, apply leveling compound, and have free choice of flooring
Option 1 involves less work, but is it also advisable or recommended considering the existing underfloor heating? If option 2 is chosen, should the new flooring (vinyl, parquet, etc.) be glued down to ensure better heat transfer from the underfloor heating?

Changing the floor covering isn’t much more work either.
