Hello,

Since our plot of land is next to a field and slopes downwards towards the field, we have filled it to create a level surface. Now, I want to build a wall made of shuttering stones on the side, which is 1.50 m (5 feet) high at the field side and maintains the same base height towards the front:

Dimensions of the shuttering stones: 360 x 240 x 248 mm (14 x 9.5 x 9.75 inches).
How do I properly construct this stepped foundation? How deep should it be, and at what point do I start a step?

A friend who is helping me said it is sufficient to lay the first row of shuttering stones in 15 cm (6 inches) of lean concrete and embed the reinforcement bars there right away.

Good luck & thanks

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hello

Simply building a wall from shuttering blocks without a solid foundation will not be durable in the long term. I would recommend using L-shaped blocks for this.
