The title says it all. The first design from our developer features a straight staircase with "15 steps, 19.1/25.0." I have since learned that
15 steps means the number of steps counted from the first one up to the upper edge of the floor on the upper level.
19.1 refers to the riser height, i.e., the vertical distance between two steps, in cm (7.5 inches).
25.0 refers to the tread depth, i.e., the horizontal depth of a step, in cm (10 inches).

We find 15 steps, 19.1/25.0 a bit steep and are now leaning toward 15 steps, 19.1/27.0, which requires an additional 30 cm (12 inches) of space (acceptable in our case).

What do your stairs look like? Are you satisfied with them and would you do it the same way again? Are you unhappy but had no other option? Do you have straight, spiral, quarter-turn, or other types of stairs?

Hello,
we have a straight staircase with the following characteristics:
Height 291.0 cm (114.6 inches)
Length 405.0 cm (159.4 inches)
Risers 16
Steps 15
Tread 27.0 cm (10.6 inches)
Riser height 18.2 cm (7.2 inches)
So far, I find it very comfortable. However, we do not yet live in the house.

18.2 / 27 – but it is not in place yet. We are curious – unfortunately, it does not comply with the usability rule. It meets the other two requirements.

Platform staircase with 17 steps, 17.85 cm (7 inches) rise and 27 cm (11 inches) tread depth.

Still in the shell construction phase – walking on it was comfortable, but you will only really notice it later on.

I found the following:

Step measurement = 2 × riser + 1 × tread – IDEAL: 63 cm (25 inches) == with 19.1/25.0 = 2 × 19.1 + 25 = 63.1 … would be good

Comfort = tread – riser – IDEAL: 12 cm (5 inches) == with 19.1/25.0 = 25 – 19.1 = 5.9 … probably not very comfortable

Safety = tread + riser – IDEAL: 46 cm (18 inches) == with 19.1/25.0 = 25 + 19.1 = 44.1 … safety probably still given.

So you would actually need to try stairs with the dimensions 19.1/25.0 and decide for yourself if it feels comfortable enough.

We have established that 15 steps with a rise/run of 19.1/25.0 cm (7.5/9.8 inches) is too steep for us. It's interesting to note that so far, mostly shallow staircases have been posted here. Is there no one using a steep staircase?
