we are currently planning to have our 13-step staircase (currently tiled) renovated by a carpenter.
In the living area, a wooden floor will be installed, which is also intended for the steps.
The carpenter roughly quoted us about 3000€ (without materials/labor only). The steps will be made directly from the flooring material, and the edges will be purchased directly from the flooring supplier.
Does anyone have experience whether 3000€ is a reasonable price just for the labor?
I appreciate any help.
Best regards,
Fabian

Well, crystal balls are always tricky. What type of staircase is it? Straight run, spiral, with or without risers? Is the handrail mounted on the tread? A photo would be helpful.Yes, you’re absolutely right 🙂 Photos are now attachedWell, what tasks are included? Removing tiles, leveling the subfloor, cutting each step individually while paying attention to the grain patterns, etc. Cutting the risers and installing everything.
3000 euros = about 50 to 60 hours at an hourly rate of 50 to 60 euros (I am assuming gross). That doesn’t seem unreasonable to me. Has he provided an estimate for the materials?
